Chefs4Soil started in 2017 when Chef Ivor Jones from Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia and Soil for Life entered into a partnership. Soil for Life developed and now maintain a herb and vegetable garden for the restaurant at their beautiful premises on the Beau Constantia wine farm. Once a year – in June or July – Chef Ivor hosts a special dinner in support of Soil for Life.
Into its third year, the dinner is becoming a much sought after event on the Cape Town dinner circuit with over R47,000 raised in 2019.
Open Garden at Soil for Life
Our Autumn and Spring Open Gardens are a chance for young and old to spend a fun-filled day in our stunning working vegetable garden. The days are packed with inspiring garden demonstrations, talks and activities. There are a variety of organic seeds, seedlings, compost, planter boxes, vegetables and more on sale and visitors can also enjoy a range of vegetarian eats and drinks sitting in the garden.
Other events which we are currently involved in are Soiled out – a Night of Comedy and the Long Table Oyster Festival hosted at the Taproom at Jack Black Brewery.
