Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any questions – about Soil for Life, living a healthier, more earth-friendly life or growing your own food – please email us at email@example.com.
What does Soil For Life do?
Soil for Life is a non-profit organisation (NPO) based in Cape Town, South Africa, that helps people learn to grow healthy, organic food using simple, low-cost, environmentally-friendly methods.
Where is Soil for Life?
Our base is in Constantia, Cape Town where we have a working organic garden, offices, meeting venue, nursery and shop. Most of our work happens in the community. We currently work in more than 16 areas including Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel, Delft, Gugulethu, Khayelitsha, Steenberg.
How can you grow food if you live in a shack or on a very small property?
We believe that EVERYONE has the potential to grow nutritious food, whatever resources they have available. We teach techniques to accommodate very small spaces, such as container and vertical gardening. Some of our home gardeners in the tiniest of properties put fresh food on their family table every day.
Aren’t organic vegetables expensive?
They can be expensive in the shops. But if they are grown according to our methods they work out to cost almost nothing. All you need is a spade, waste and seed.
