Workshops
Gardening is for everyone and the knowledge on how to grow your own food in balance with nature is universal. It’s a life skill.
Join one of our workshops listed below and re-discover the miracle of life. Realising how much one is part of nature is an eye-opener and experience for a life-time.
Week-end workshop – Grow to live
Once a month Soil for Life offers a comprehensive and hands-on gardening workshop that is loads of fun. Anyone can join! (find out more)
Compost Making and Natural fertilisers
Western Cape soils, especially in the Cape Town region, are not amongst the most fertile. Sadly, we are very used to just get some fertiliser from the shops, not realising the destructiveness of such products. A hands-on experience in making and using compost, setting up an earthworm farm, brewing up your own natural fertiliser teas, working with green manures and cultivating plants that will feed your soil.
Natural Pest and Disease control
And again we find ourselves mostly using chemicals. Just think about it, what do you do when the snails take charge of your garden? Ordinary bait? If, then be aware that’s exactly what you will be eating later.
In this workshop we want to equip you with the knowledge and skills to control pests organically and in balance with nature.
Learn all about these amazing soil improvers and waste recyclers. You will also learn how easy it is to farm them at home and have them work for 24/7 and for free. A short workshop on working with worms, as well as a step-by-step guide for setting up an earthworm farm in a box and making your own ‘black gold’.
Usually done on request for groups not exceeding 16 in number. Can be done at your venue or ours. We provide the materials required.
